What a whirl wind 2020 was. Time slipped away from me and my goal of “one blog post a week” has all but failed…I guess I will start fresh with a life update!
In August 2020 I made the extremely difficult decision to leave my amazing squad and postpone the Race by an entire year due to COVID and the effects it has had on the ability to travel internationally. Man, was that hard. Everything I planned for in the last year had to be laid at the feet of Jesus. I had to give him my hopes and dreams for 2020. I had to learn deeper trust. And so here I am, writing up this blogpost still at home. I spent a month feeling unraveled and mourning the loss of an amazing team before I began to adjust to what the rest of 2020 and the start of 2021 would look like for me. I celebrated my 18th birthday in Sep. surrounded by family and friends. Right after my birthday God provided the opportunity for me to purchase my first car! It also lined up perfectly with a new Nannying job that I wouldn’t have been able to take without my own vehicle. Isn’t God so wonderful in how he always provides? I had been so stressed about finding a job now that I was staying at home for another year and God literally placed one in my lap along with my very now car. I am still blown away by His overwhelming goodness.
I am so excited to announce that in September 2021 I will be launching on my World Race! My new route is going to Eswatini, Thailand, and Costa Rica. I chose this route because God has put a huge call on my life to do children’s ministry and orphan care, this route has a focus in those areas. Over the past couple months I have gotten to start connecting with my new squad! I am so thankful to be able to find community through my squad in a season where connecting with others can be challenging. I took a couple months off fundraising but over the Holidays I put together 2 cookie fundraisers and I am now working on a new fundraiser I will be launching this month (so stay tuned)! Recently my squad started an Instagram account to better share our journey with the world! Heres the link if you’d like to check it out: https://www.instagram.com/wrgapyear_route3/
I look upon this year and I am full of expectation and excitement. My heart is so ready to go and serve wherever the Lord calls me. whether it is here, near, or far away I am ready to stop standing on the sidelines and get involved with all that God is doing in this season. I am praying that as you enter into this new year your heart would be set on fire for things of the kingdom. That God would show up in your life bigger and better than you could have ever imagined. May He Bless you and Keep you, may His face Shine upon you and be Gracious to you.
With so much love, Amelia
Amelia, it’s beautiful watching you trust the Lord through these seasons. I can’t imagine the grief that comes with that. You’ll always have a place on F squad (route 5) and we miss you dearly! Supporting you! Fighting for you friend!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a ton to me. I am so thankful for F Squad and the place I had with you guys! Praying for each one of you as you prepare to launch, God is going to do amazing things!
Yes! Missions has definitely been a heavy calling on my life for so long. Thank you for your constant support and love.
I can remember you as a young child already longing to be a missionary. Your face and voice always showed how deeply you held this dream. And, now you are embarking on your life-long dream! I am so proud of you! God bless.
